The race route was the same as last year with the loop through Al Badia and the Four Seasons Golf Club then onto the Festival City Marina.
The start and finish of the race was in the area next to the Somerset Serviced Apartments behind the Al Jadaf Nurseries.
The first leg headed towards the Al Wasl Hospital before crossing the highway at the Wafi Shopping Centre to the change over at the Grand Cinema's car park (Change 1).
The relay then continued along the traditional route beside the Creekside Park, past Dubai Law Courts (Change 2), the British Embassy and Sheikh Saeed's old Palace to the mouth of the Creek at Port Rashid (Change 3).
It was then through the Al Shindaga pedestrian tunnel and a continuation of traditions along the Creek to the Chamber of Commerce (Change 4), past Maktoum Bridge, City Centre before reaching the Honda Showroom in Festival City (Change 5).
From the Honda Showroom the chalk marks led past IKEA and then left at the Green Panda and out on to the main road before the changeover at the Petrol Station (Change 6). It was then into Al Badia and along past the scenic Four Season's Golf Course and Club House. The route led into the overflow car park area next to Festival City for the final changeover (Change 7). It was then past the Marina and along the Festival City promenade in front of the Shopping Centre and the Intercontinental Hotel before joining the old route at Business Bay Bridge.
It was then across the bridge before heading to the finish line.
There were 23 Teams in this years event including the family team of Blincow 182 (only 3 this year). They were actually placed 2nd in the Open Predictor, but some idiot mucked up the results so they were not recognised or rewarded at the prize giving. Insh Allah their prize will be given to them later.
The number of teams was a little lower than last year, perhaps due to the Marathon the previous week.
It is hoped that the 2011 route will be able to include much more of the Creek area near the Flamingo Reserve getting back closer to be being able to fully get all the way around the Creek.
The "Circle" and Prize Giving was conducted in the same discreet fenced area where the old Nurseries used to be.
Still nothing much is happening in this area so the area should remain available for next year.
The RA of the day was Sucker and as usual he had many stories of the mornings relay.
He then awarded Prizes as per the results above. (carefully selected cases of beer, Champagne and Wine)
It was a welcome back to Fuckbuck (Norman Warren) who founded the event in 1995 and continued to organise it until leaving Dubai.
He was thrilled to see the event still going strong and keeping with the traditions that it started with.
The Creek Hash thanks everybody who participated and to the Marshals and Helpers who helped keep this great event alive despite the changed conditions.
See you all, plus more in 2011.
